Written Roses – A Poem

A rose by any other name,
well it would smell quite as sweet,
but is the same truth quite as true
about the words we say and speak?
A reprimand can be dressed up
as a compliment in disguise;
a statement is only beautiful
In the beholder’s eyes.
Or ears!
But the thing about the roses is,
their beauty mask of blooming petals,
the lusty leaves that draw you in
hide sharp thorny metals.
And so my sapling words
in their lofty attempt at sweetness,
underlie with a hopeful attempt
at sharp and stabbing deepness.
